Abstract
The first section presents a summary of the genera! Situation of women in the three areas of focus in the sub-region using the most recent quantitative and qualitative data from these countries where available; in some cases, there are gaps in the data and some countries may be under-represented This section seeks to draw out the major issues of concern within each critical area, and reviews the modalities end experiences which have been used in an attempt to resolve these concerns.
