Draft final report of the workshop on urbanization in Africa

Abstract

The Workshop was held in response to the recommendations formulated by the Economic and Social Council which, for some years past, has been concerned with the social and economic problems which accompany the growing concentration of population in urban areas, and has, accordingly, adopted resolutions calling for study or action in the field of urbanization. The present report is divided into three parts; The first gives an account of the organization and conduct of the Workshop; the second presents the reports of the Rapporteurs relating to each of the topics discussed at the meetings; while the third contains the text of the conclusions reached and the recommendations, for action made by this Workshop as result of its proceedings on each topic. a list of participants, the work program and time table, a list of documents presented at the workshop, and a list of Workshop officers and members of discussion panels are included as annexes I, II, III and IV respectively.
