Abstract
Like most of the large African urban centers which have been the theater of a more or less rapid expansion during the last two decades, Tananarive has seen its population increase and its boundaries recede. The dynamics of its extension were not uniform in all the districts; in the Isotory district it assumed an aspect which merits special attention. There an urban society evolved which, it is at once apparent, is different from the rest of the capital.
