It should be recalled that the main objective of the Coordinating Committee on African Statistical Development (CASD) is to act as a coordinating body for statistical development activities in Africa and to monitor the overall implementation of the Addis Ababa Plan of Action for Statistical Development in Africa. CASD was created in 1992 in recognition of the need to ensure the success of technical cooperation at both national, regional and international levels through proper coordination of the various statistical development activities in Africa.
