The following study was undertaken in pursuance of General Assembly resolution 3508 (XXX) of 15 December 1975 which called for the examination of long-term trends in the economic development of the world, Economic and Social Council resolution 2090 (XJCIII) of 25 July 1977 and resolution 4 (II) of the Intergovernmental Group on the Least Developed Countries as further elaborated in the Arusha Programme for Collective Self-reliance and Framework for Negotiations. The study-provides’ a series of projections of the major macro-economic variables covering the 1980s for the least developed countries.
