Follow-up action on relevant resolutions adopted by the twenty-eighth session of the Commission / Nineteenth Meeting of the Conference of Ministers

Abstract

The Conference deliberated on strategic objectives for Africa's economic development in the 1990s and reaffirmed the continued vitality of Africa's long-standing development strategy as described in the Lagos Plan of Action (LPA), Africa's Priority Programme for Economic Recovery (APPER), the African Alternative Framework to Structural Adjustment Programmes for Socio-economic Recovery and Transformation (AAF-SAP and other landmark documents which have been adopted in the last 15 years. It also examined the domestic and external financial resource requirements for Africa's development in the 1990s and strategies for their mobilization. The Conference deliberated on four other elements of Africa's development strategy: a strategic agenda for development management; a human development agenda; the second Industrial Development Decade for Africa (IDDA II) and the second United Nations Transport and Communications Decade in Africa (UNTACDA II).
