The recent development of stereo regular rubbers one of which, cispolyisiprene, is chemically identical with natural rubber is likely to lead to the production of much closer synthetic substitutes for natural rubber. Once these rubbers are in full commercial production, it will be difficult to envisage fluctuations in natural rubber prices of the order of those which have occurred in recent years.
