Abstract
In its efforts to promote monetary and financial co-operation among African countries with a view to expanding Intra-African trade, the AACB at its 5th ordinary meeting held in Lusaka, Zambia in August 1977 decided to organize a Seminar on the role of Commercial Banks in clearing and payments arrangements. The West African sub region was chosen to host the seminar in view of the existence there of the West African Clearing House which has been organizing regular meetings of commercial banks in that sub region.
