Report of the meeting of experts on manpower training in telecommunication

Abstract

The important role of communication in development can be assured only if qualified service and research personnel are made available in communication field’s in-sufficient numbers. Increasing concern has been felt within the region at the relative underdevelopment of telecommunications services, which is due in large measure to inadequate manpower resources in this field. Consequently telecommunication training at the basic and medium levels has been on the increase throughout the region. It is time that planning attention was paid to specialising and retraining in the newer telecommunications fields as well as in the more traditional ones.
