dc.description.abstractSince its establishment in 1958 the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) has stimulated research effort on the continent and population data from censuses and demographic surveys undertaken in most African countries have been adjusted using analytical techniques developed by a number of scholars and institutions. These techniques have been used to obtain reasonable estimates of population parameters required for socio-economic planning and research on the African continent.en
