Abstract
This report is in two parts. The first part highlights progress made to date in establishing national associations of women entrepreneurs and the federation of African women entrepreneurs. In the second part, the paper reports on the findings of studies undertaken by ECA and other organizations to improve women's access to credit and assesses the need for setting up an African bank for women. In its conclusion, the paper recommends a few measures to be taken for the further enhancement of women's economic capabilities and their role in development.
