Abstract
This brief note highlights the contribution of chambers of commerce and industry 1/ can make in promoting Africa's trade, especially trade with other regions from the South. The note is presented in three chapters. In the first chapter, it reviews the main functions and types of chambers of commerce. The second chapter presents a brief analysis of the evolution of African chambers of commerce. The third chapter is devoted to the role of chambers of commerce in promoting South-South trade.
