This report has been prepared pursuant to Para. 54 of the Strategies doc. E/ECA/TRADE/89/25/Rev.5 which inter alia urges the Executive Secretary of ECA, in collaboration with other relevant international organizations and the standing committees established under Para 46, 47 and 49 u to submit a progress report to all future regular meetings of the Conference of African Ministers of Trade on the implementation of the Strategies. Of special significance was the reaffirmation by the African Ministers of Trade in subsequent Eleventh Session of the Conference, of their earlier recommendation that ECA play a focal role in coordinating the implementation of these strategies. Also, to continuously sensitize member States on the relevancy of the strategies, assess, review and report on the follow-up activities.
