The speech was made by the request of African Governments;
the United Nations General Assembly convened Special Session on the Critical Economic Situation in Africa from 27 May to June 1986. The objective of the Abuja Statement Conference was to assist the African countries and the international community to fully exploit
the opportunities and advantages of APPER and the UN-PAAERD. It helps to create a solid foundation or the achievement of the longer-term goals of African development.
The report evaluates the implementation of Abuja Statement on Economic Recovery and Long-Term Development in Africa.
