This illustrated book purports to be a guide in the circumscribed field of housing in Africa to help the technical experts, the politicians and planners, the professors and students to learn from their African neighbors. even though their societies may differ in their political, economic, social and cultural organization. The problems of regional and national planning, of transport systems and water supply, sociology, ecology, trade and agriculture are not mentioned as they are thoroughly discussed in the publication" human settlements in Africa. The title" economic housing in Africa" suggests that the book deals with experiments in low -cost housing in Africa. however, a final assessment as to the usefulness can be made only after users have gained experience and the ensuing discussion can help governments to take the best possible road to performing the tasks ahead.
