Abstract

The 1984 issue of the African Socio-Economic Indicators, conveys the salient features of the social and economic trends in African countries for the period 1970-1983. The issue comprises tables and charts; and technical notes. In order to facilitate inter-sub regional and inter-country comparisons, the majority of the tables contained in this issue are derived data. However, due to differences in concepts and definitions in the various countries users are advised to exercise care in interpreting them. Once again, the ECA Statistics Division hopes that the information contained in the publication will help users to obtain indicators of the main social and economic features at the sub-regional and individual country level.
