Status and prospects of population policies in ECA Member States
Abstract
This study attempts to review the status of population policy development in the ECA region during the period covered by the 5 UN monitoring reports published to date and the most recent population inquiry (INQ6, 1987) among nations. The main objective is to assess the state of knowledge on population policy development process in the region; analyze the real and potential problems encountered by member states in the process; and, suggest ways of ameliorating such problems within the framework of the emerging body of knowledge regarding the ideal approach I in population policy development in the region.On the basis of the review, the prospects for population policy development in the member states during the 1990s are examined and discussed.
