The fifth session of the Committee on Social Policy, Poverty and Gender, scheduled for 2 and 3 November 2023, will feature a parallel session focused on "Digital Technical and Vocational Education and Training: Enhancing the Skills of Women and Girls Across Africa." This session aims to address the critical need for gender equality and women's empowerment through digital skills enhancement. It will build on previous discussions regarding the emerging skills necessary for future job markets, particularly for women and girls who face unique challenges in accessing digital technologies. The session will explore the barriers to online safety, the impact of digitalization on economic opportunities, and the role of social media in creating new income streams. Participants will engage in discussions to identify key areas for training, share best practices, and develop strategies for fostering a supportive environment for women in technology. Expected outcomes include a deeper understanding of the intersection between digital education and gender equality, the identification of emerging opportunities for skill enhancement, and enhanced knowledge of policy interventions to support women's digital empowerment.en
