The paper discusses the necessity of establishing new social contracts in Africa, particularly through the lens of education, to address the inequities exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. It emphasizes the importance of integrating employment, sustainable development, and social protection to ensure equal rights and opportunities for all. The document outlines the critical role of education in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4, and highlights the need for increased efficiency in education spending. It identifies key megatrends affecting Africa, such as demographic changes, urbanization, digital transformation, and climate change, and argues that these trends necessitate a rethinking of education policies. The paper proposes a focus on the '3 A's'—affordability, accessibility, and applicability—as essential components for creating inclusive and equitable education systems. It concludes by urging policymakers to foster a collaborative relationship between governments and citizens to build a fairer society, ultimately enhancing social mobility and reducing poverty.en
