The Medium-Term Programme Framework (2022–2025) by the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) outlines a strategic response to the pressing challenges faced by African nations, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. It emphasizes the need for transformative change to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the African Union's Agenda 2063. The framework identifies five key transformations: investing in human potential, fostering regional integration, promoting innovation, developing sustainable industries, and strengthening institutions. Each transformation is linked to specific outcomes and Sustainable Development Goals, aiming to enhance policy coherence and drive inclusive economic growth. The ECA's approach includes a think-tank function for research, an operational function for direct support to member states, and a convening function to facilitate multi-stakeholder dialogue. The framework also highlights the importance of collaboration, transparency, and innovative financing to ensure effective implementation and achieve long-term sustainable development across the continent.
