The power of controlled vocabularies in knowledge retrieval: the case study of the ASKIA SDGs

Abstract

This study assesses the ASKIA search engine, focusing on its potential and limitations in retrieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)-related resources. By integrating the SDG taxonomy, the retooled ASKIA improves knowledge retrieval, SDG views, and knowledge sharing. However, challenges like language translation and keyword inconsistencies remain. Recommendations for short, medium, and long-term improvements are provided to enhance the system's functionality.
