This policy brief examines the effectiveness of active labor market policies (ALMPs) in North Africa, focusing on good practices and providing recommendations for improvement. The region faces high unemployment rates, particularly among youth and women, and low labor market participation. The brief highlights four main categories of ALMPs: vocational training to improve employability, promotion of entrepreneurship and self-employment, support for private sector job creation through wage subsidies, and job search assistance programs. It emphasizes the need for integrated and inclusive strategies involving key stakeholders to address structural issues and enhance labor market outcomes. The brief also underscores the importance of political will and resource mobilization to implement these policies effectively, aiming to reduce unemployment and foster economic resilience in North Africa.
