Summary of the report on African progress towards achieving the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want, of the African Union

Abstract

In the present report, the performance of Africa in respect of Sustainable Development Goals 1, 2, 13, 16 and 17 – all of which will be reviewed in depth during the 2024 high-level political forum – and the associated goals of Agenda 2063 is assessed. While data limitations make it impossible to provide information on all the targets and indicators, pictures are painted in the present report of the performance of the African subregions, in comparison with one another, and of the continent as a whole, in comparison with other regions. The Sustainable Development Goals under review and the targets and indicators of particular relevance, along with the associated goals of Agenda 2063, are set out in the annex.
