The reports were prepared by nationals for 10 French speaking countries following a workshop held in Ouagadougou in February/March 1978 and for 10 English speaking countries following a workshop held in Nairobi in September 1978. The reminder of the reports was prepared jointly by nationals and staff from WHO stationed in the field, regional office and/or headquarters on the basis of short visits to the countries. The aim of Sustainable Development Goal 2 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and goals 1, 3 and 5 under aspiration 1 of Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want, of the African Union is to end hunger, attain food security, improve nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture.
