The meeting was convened to set up a preparatory process for the review of the implementation of Agenda 21 in Africa.In this connection,stakeholders addressed the following issues:Definition of Sustainable Development (SD): what SD means to various organisations; what the elements of SD taking examples from countries in various regions;Collaborative efforts between sub-regional institutions and the member countries;Sub-regional strategy (strategies) to attain sustainable development;Promoting the institutionalization of participation at all levels: local, national,and sub-regional.
