Djibouti Country Handbook : highlights of ECA’s support to Djibouti 2019-2022

Abstract

ECA assisted Djibouti in developing its national development plan for the period from 2020 to 2024. ECA has conducted an assessment of the social, economic and environmental contribution of the blue economy to overall development in Djibouti. For the study, ECA made use of the blue economy valuation toolkit designed by the Sub regional Office for Eastern Africa. The report described the institutional environment of the blue economy in Djibouti, situated the blue economy in national and sectoral development strategies, and provided insight into the potential of the blue economy in Djibouti. ECA provided technical support to improve the national tourism statistics system in Djibouti and to develop the country’s tourism satellite account. In line with its continuous support to its members, ECA developed a macroeconomic forecasting model for Djibouti in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
