Abstract
Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) update. 17 August 2021: Ethiopia reported 856 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours giving a total 290,818 confirmed cases as of 17 August 2021. A total of 4,495 deaths have been reported since the beginning of the outbreak with a Case Fatality Rate is 1.55%. 265,663 (91.6%) cases have recovered, however 688 confirmed cases are undergoing treatment in the treatment centers of which 429 are in severe condition. In the last 24 hours, 7,238 RT-PCR and Ag-RDT tests were conducted giving a cumulative 3,127,281 RT-PCR and Ag-RDT tests conducted. Global: 207,784,507 new cases; 4,370,424 deaths and case fatality. Africa: 7,319,127 new cases; 184,680 deaths and case fatality.
