Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), Update. 07 Sep. 2020. Global: 203,987 new case; 27,236,916 confirmed cases and 891,031 deaths. Africa: A total of 3 067 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported from 26 countries compared to 4631 cases reported from 28 countries the previous day (6 September 2020) in WHO AFRO Region. Ethiopia reported the highest daily number of new cases, at 976 (32%), followed by South Africa (845), Algeria (289), Nigeria (155), Botswana (124), Côte d'Ivoire (113), Mozambique (113), Kenya (102), Zambia (60) and Rwanda (35). South Africa reported its lowest number of cases since 26 May when 649 cases were recorded. A total of 41,522 (3.8%) health workers from 42 countries has been infected, with South Africa having 66% (27,360/41,522) of all the reported cases. Ethiopia: 976 new cases; 59,648 total cases; 482 new recovered; 21,789 total recovered and 15 new deaths.
