COVID-19 Situation Report : 06 September 2020

Abstract

Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), Update. 06 Sep. 2020. Global: 231,225 new cases; 26,994,442 confirmed cases and 880,994 deaths. Africa: Globally, the cases have increased close to 27 million with a very sharp increase in case in South America especially Brazil, Peru, Columbia, Chile and Argentina. There is a marked reduction in the number of cases in South Africa and this has led to improving its previous 5th position ranking to 7th on the globe. In Africa, the top 5 countries reported 922,718 confirmed cases and 23,642 deaths representing 70.9% of the total reported confirmed cases and 75.5% deaths respectively. The total recovered in the continent have just exceeded a million mark. Ethiopia: 1,206 new cases; 58,672 total cases; 531 new recovered; 21,307 total recovered and 21 new deaths.
