COVID-19 Situation Report: 24 May 2021

Abstract

Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) update: 24 May. 2021. Ethiopia reported 306 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours giving a total 269,500 confirmed cases as of 24 May 2021. A total of 4,084 deaths have been reported since the beginning of the outbreak with a Case Fatality Rate is 1.52%. Majority of the cases (213,857) have been reported by Addis Ababa and Oromia regions constituting 79.3% of the national tally. 230,784 (85.63%) cases have recovered, however 879 confirmed cases are undergoing treatment in the treatment centers of which 485 are in severe condition. In the last 24 hours, 4,106 RT-PCR tests were conducted giving a cumulative 2,691,240 RT-PCR tests conducted. Africa: 4,760,987 confirmed cases; 4,304,700 recoveries and 128,499 deaths.
