Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) update. 19 April 2021. Ethiopia: 1,792 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative confirmed cases to 242,028 as of 18 April 2021 with 42 new deaths reported in the last 24 hours. This is the highest number of deaths reported per day since the case was reported in Ethiopia. A total of 3,370 deaths have been reported since the beginning of the outbreak with a Case Fatality Rate of 1.39%. On average 1,862 cases per day and 27 deaths per day have been reported for the last 7 days, representing 6% and 7% decrease in cases and deaths respectively compared to the previous 7 days. Addis Ababa and Oromia account for 79.7% of the cumulative cases nationally with 65.8% (159,319) and 13.9% (33,679) respectively. There have been 179,315 recoveries reported with 59,341 cases still active of which 1,028 are severe and critical cases. Africa: Confirmed Cases 4,428,486; Recoveries 3,966,193 and Deaths 117,890. Global: vaccine doses 792,796,083; confirmed cases 140,886,773; recoveries 77,239,786 and deaths 3,012,251.
