Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) Update: 09 April 2021. Ethiopia has reported 1,851 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours giving a total 225,516 confirmed cases as of 09 April 2021. A total of 3,111 deaths have been reported since the beginning of the outbreak with a Case Fatality Rate is 1.38%. Majority of the cases (180,030) have been reported by Addis Ababa and Oromia regions constituting 79.8% of the national tally. However, there is high uncertainty in Tigray region given that no surveillance activities have been carried out since 4 November 2020 and considering that there were hundreds of active cases by the start of the military operation in the area. 167,945 (74.47%) cases have recovered, however 1,851 confirmed cases are undergoing treatment in the treatment centers of which 895 are in severe condition. Africa: confirmed cases 4,320,974; recoveries 3,882,661 and deaths 114,970. Global: vaccine 669,248,795; confirmed cases 133,552,774 and recoveries 75,452,678 and deaths 2,894,295.
