Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) update. 31 March 2021. Ethiopia has reported 2,068 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours giving a total 206,589 confirmed cases as of 31 March 2021. A total of 2,865 deaths have been reported since the beginning of the outbreak with a Case Fatality Rate is 1.39%. Majority of the cases (164,782) have been reported by Addis Ababa and Oromia regions constituting 79.8% of the national tally. However, there is high uncertainty in Tigray region given that no surveillance activities have been carried out since 4 November 2020 and considering that there were hundreds of active cases by the start of the military operation in the area. 158,109 (76.53%) cases have recovered, however 1,636 confirmed cases are undergoing treatment in the treatment centers of which 865 are in severe condition. Africa: confirmed cases 4,226,322; recoveries 3,774,007 and deaths 112,861. Global: vaccine 547,727,346; confirmed cases 128,540,982; recoveries 72,401,005 and deaths 2,808,308.
