COVID-19 Situation Report: 06 March 2021

Abstract

Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) update: 06 March 2021. Ethiopia: Ethiopia has reported 956 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours giving a total 165,029 confirmed cases as of 06 March 2021. A total of 2,402 deaths have been reported since the beginning of the outbreak with a Case Fatality Rate is 1.47%. Majority of the cases (128,510) have been reported by Addis Ababa and Oromia regions constituting 77.9% of the national tally. However, there is high uncertainty in Tigray region given that no surveillance activities have been carried out since 4 November 2020 and considering that there were hundreds of active cases by the start of the military operation in the area. Africa: 3,945,544 confirmed cases; 3,526,325 recoveries and 105,275 deaths. Global: 249,160,837 vaccine doses; 116,135,492 confirmed cases; 65,113,908 recoveries and 2,581,976 deaths.
