COVID-19 Situation Report: 29 January 2021

Abstract

Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) update: 29 January 2021. Ethiopia has reported 549 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours giving a total 136,365 confirmed cases as of 29 Jan 2021. A total of 2087 deaths have been reported since the beginning of the outbreak with a Case Fatality Rate is 1.53%. Majority of the cases (101,477) have been reported by Addis Ababa and Oromia regions constituting 74.4% of the national tally. However, there is high uncertainty in Tigray region given that no surveillance activities have been carried out since 4 November 2020 and considering that, there were hundreds of active cases by the start of the military operation in the area.
