ARFSD: ECA, UN Women and UNFPA to host two events on gender equality and women’s empowerment in Africa

Abstract

The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, UN Women and UNFPA will host two high-level events on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5 in Africa during the 2022 Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD). Both events will provide a knowledge-sharing platform on the coherent implementation of SDG 5 and Aspiration 6 of the African Union’s 2063 Agenda at the local, national and regional levels in the context of COVID-19 and building back better. The first event will consider the progress, challenges, opportunities and key priority actions for accelerating the implementation of SDG 5 on gender equality and women’s empowerment. The second parallel event will take place during the ARFSD and will be live-streamed for international participants.
