Abstract
Physical characteristics: The Sudan Is the largest country in Africa with about 2, 5 million km2 of land. The major part of the Nile River is found within the Sudan running from south to north. The huge water resources of the Nile and the usually adequate rainfall in the southern parts present, together with good soils, suitable conditions for agricultural production. The Nile river in the south passes through and is part of the vast swampy area known as the 'Sudd1. Most of Sudan Is a broad piain with mountains rising on the northeast, southern and western borders.
