Abstract
The MULPOC has prepared this report for presentation to the 13th Meeting of the intergovernmental Committee of Experts of the Tangiers MULPOC to be held in March 1997. The report briefly reviews the problem of desertification, its nature, causes and extent in the North African sub region, assesses the progress achieved so far to combat it and presents some of the major problems that have constrained progress in this field. It then attempts to identify opportunities for collaborative action in the fight against desertification.
