Abstract
During 1994 and 1995 a number of conferences were held in Africa at the regional, subregional and national levels involving governments, intergovernmental organizations in preparation for the Fourth United Nations World Conference on Women in Beijing, China from 4-15 September 1995. The Lusaka MULPOC as the operational wing of ECA at subregional levels is mandated to monitor progress in the implementation of the Platform for Action particularly on strategies for action on the twelve critical areas of concern In this regard, the Lusaka MULPOC undertook a mission to four countries to assess progress: these were Lesotho, South Africa Zambia and Zimbabwe. Discussions were carried with officials of these countries on the twelve critical areas of concern of the Platform for Action.
