Statement by Mr. Carlos Lopes empowering women for agriculture and food security: at the 23rd pre-summit consultative meeting on gender mainstreaming in the African Union

Abstract

The pillar on women’s economic empowerment will focus on the agricultural and extractive sector. The Initiative is based on the viewpoint that women’s socio-economic and political empowerment is the foundation and the condition sine qua non for Africa’s structural transformation. As we start to implement the Initiative later this year, we will continue to collaborate with all of you to enhance our common objectives
