dc.description.abstract16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an international UNiTE advocacy campaign to challenge violence against women and girls. The campaign provides a space to galvanize action to end gender based violence around the world. It runs every year from 25 November, which is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, the Human Rights Day. The 16 Days campaign symbolically and explicitly links violence against women with human rights to emphasize the latter as a violation of human rights. Since its launch in 1991, the campaign has achieved unpreceded mobilization against gender-based violence, at national, regional and global levels. This year’s campaign coincides with the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.en
