This paper focuses on survey on the rationalization and harmonization of the economic integration and cooperation programmes of the East Africa sub region. the report has six chapters:Chapter one analyzes the regional and international economic environment and its impact on the integration process in East Africa. Chapter two deals with the structure of cooperation in the region, particularly, the contours of the regional space, existing institutions, their type and sectors of activities. Chapter three gives an overview of the major programmes and projects in progress. The various rationalization approaches are presented and discussed in chapter four. Their impact at the legal, institutional and operational levels is summarized in chapter five, and chapter is devoted to conclusions and recommendations.
