Abstract
The Workshop was opened by Mr. A.P. Traore, Officer-in-Charge of the Regional Cooperation and Integration Division (RCID) on behalf of Mr. Y. Suliman, Chief of RCID. In his opening remarks, Mr. Traore stated that the workshop on Analytical, Communication and Negotiating Skills for African Trade Negotiators could not have been held at a more propitious time in view of the impending WTO negotiations and the. reshaping of the long standing ACP-EU relations. He added that the workshop was part of a series of efforts, including the various meetings that took place in Sun City, Pretoria, Addis Ababa and Algiers, aimed at better preparing African countries for the Third WTO Ministerial Conference in Seattle and the successor arrangements to the Lome Convention.
