Les économistes occidentaux se heurtent à d’énormes difficultés dans leur interprétation du système de planification économique chinois, d’une part parce que le système chinois tient compte de nombreux objectifs non économiques et d’autre part à cause de la perspective différente dans laquelle les économistes occidentaux abordent les problèmes économiques. Il pensent en effet que la société doit être organisée dans la perspective du consommateur et que le bien être est complet lorsque le consommateur est satisfait.
