Background paper on Sustainable Development Goal 10: reduced inequality within and among countries

Abstract

This Background paper on Sustainable Development Goal 10: Reduced inequality within and among countries meeting the challenge of inequality is instrumental for the successful implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which is aimed at providing a vision of a shared future with equality and opportunities for all. With its call for a “just, equitable, tolerant, open and socially inclusive world in which the needs of the most vulnerable are met,” the 2030 Agenda could well be an “agenda for equality”.
