The paper discusses the Southern African complex separately. The continued existence there of forms of colonialism and racism that have disappeared (albeit not completely) from the rest of Africa. The greater degree of economic cohesion in these parts of Africa mainly because of the continuity of the British dominated country as and the relative weakness of the colonial powers in the neighboring countries (Portugal and Belgium) so that even the non British colonies were incorporated into the British-dominated structures. The emerging scenario of Southern Africa then consisted on one side of a firm racist South Africa defying world opinion while effectively staving off any military action from Black Africa and on the ether side a number of independent African countries vociferously opposed. to apartheid but for all purposes and intent unable to do anything about the situation except perhaps win some international support for various forms of selective ostracization of South Africa.en
