Abstract

Professor Leduc ‘s notes on the subject of ownership and management of resources in Africa are obviously intended to raise issues not to discuss them . Nor is it the objective of this discussant to usurp the right of the Seminar to discuss the issues but to pin these down more specifically as a contribution towards the much wider discussion that should follow. To the extent that collective ownership of the means of production may be desirable it must be justified on the ground that, in the particular context of its application, it could be shown to yield superior results to those of any alternative philosophy.
