The short-term training course for African government officials on the planning of foreign trade and payments was held in Cairo from 7 March to 4 April 1966. This course was organized by the UN African Institute for Economic Development and Planning in co-operation with the Economic Commission for Africa and the CDPPP at UN Headquarters. The Government of the United Arab Republic 9 through the Institute of National Planning, Ca ire, provided host facilities for the course. The course was attended by 17 participants from 13 African countries. The participants, who were nominated by their governments, were officials drawn mainly from Ministries of commerce, Economic Affairs and Planning. A list of the participants with their titles and countries of origin is appended in Annex I. The course was divided into seven series of lectures covering all the major aspects of foreign trade and payments. The teaching staff for the course was provided mainly by the four bodies mentioned in the first paragraph. In addition, the ILO and FAO contributed lecturers for the course. Two of the UN Technical Assistance experts stationed in the UAR also contributed lectures to the course.
