Lesotho, like most Southern African States, serves as labour reserve for South Africa's labour demands, especially that of the mining industry. The country depends on South Africa for wage employment of a substantial proportion of its labour force. At any one time, over 50 per cent of able-bodied male adults are absent from the country working in South Africa. This unfortunate dependence situation makes Lesotho's position highly vulnerable.en
