Report on the integrated regional indicator framework for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Agenda 2063 of the African Union

Abstract

An integrated regional indicator framework for monitoring and following up on implementation of both the 2030 agenda and agenda 2063 is now ready for adoption. In addition, to assist member states in compiling data for regional monitoring, an expert group meeting has prepared the final draft of a handbook on that framework. The database on global sustainable development goal indicators is the primary source of data for the integrated regional indicator framework. Most of the data in that database are derived from estimates made by custodian organizations. On average, for the period 2000—2018, country data and estimated data accounted, respectively, for 31.6 and 45.6 per cent of the data in the database. A number of training workshops have been organized within the context of the Tenth tranche development account projects in order to strengthen the capacities of member states in the compilation of indicators for monitoring and following up on the implementation of national development plans, the 2030 agenda and agenda 2063.
